Welcome to the GJ Variety Freedom House story. You don’t know about this wonderful project? Here’s a re-cap: it began when a local developer Bruce McDonald donated a block of land near Nowra to Variety, the Children’s Charity. This special organisation is a national not-for-profit body committed to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
But what could they do with a block of land? Enter G. J. Gardner Homes Shoalhaven, who not only offered to build a house on the land but drummed up the support of suppliers and trades people to get on board. Now the project was really solid: a new home, owned by Variety, who could auction it to raise much needed funds. This month the house will be auctioned, it will be the culmination of an almost year long project. The dream has turned into a reality.
Prominent on the house’s facade is the B&D Panelift®, Australia’s premium Pinchfree™ sectional garage door and this provides an integral part of its street-facing appearance. The garage doors on this charity home come from iconic Australian brand B&D, one which from 1956 has been built on ingenuity and innovation. The company deliver what they promise, to not only manufacture doors that meet the toughest tests for performance, long life and durability, but also ones that provide the highest levels of aesthetic appeal.
B&D came on board when this project was developed, G. J. Gardner Homes is proud of our long term relationship with B&D and grateful for their generous support. With the support of Shoalhaven Door Centre, B&D National Accredited Dealer of the Year 2013, B&D have supplied and installed garage doors to G. J. Gardner Homes for over 10 years. To have one of the great post-World War II suburban icons, whose influence has changed the Australian residential landscape, contribute to our major charity fundraising project for Variety. Fittings for G. J. Gardner homes have to fulfil three key requirements: be long lasting, hard wearing and good looking.
To date, B&D have manufactured well in excess of five million garage doors worldwide, with more than 2.5 million Roll-A-Doors sold in Australia alone. Through constantly delivering design and functionality improvements, B&D has been able to maintain its market leadership position for more than 50 years. Proof of its iconic Australian status has been granted at the highest cultural level with the National Australian Museum in Canberra having a B&D Roll-A-Door®on display!
