WINTER WARMERS

Now that the mercury is dropping you’re probably spending a lot more time indoors. Which is great, as long as your home’s interior decor isn’t colder than the Snowy Mountains in July. If you’re currently designing your new home, why not skip the traditional white walls in favour of a warmer indoor climate? These colour tips will have you feeling toasty in no time.

Mr. Brown
If you’re designing a highly contemporary home but aren’t keen on the monochrome look, opt for a soft palette of beiges and browns instead. Deep brown shades remind us of the earth and instantly create a warm, welcoming feel. Best of all, a neutral interior never goes out of style.

Bronze goddess
Copper, bronze and soft metallic gold tones are right on trend at the moment. We’re not suggesting you paint your living room walls with glitter, but a carefully chosen metallic light fixture will go a long way. This trend works well in open-plan kitchen and living areas – contrast your metallics against a soft tan couch and cool marble details for instant glam.

Jewel in the crown
During winter, the outside world can seem a bit dreary and grey. If you need to shake off the blues, try adding a pop of bright colour to your interior. Jewel tones – emerald green, teal, sapphire and even royal purple – are a bold way to bring that summer vibrancy back into your home.

Pastel perfect
Sometimes the best solution is also the simplest. Replacing white walls with soft yellow, blush pink or mint green can warm up even the dullest space.
