G.J. Gardner Homes are celebrating this week as their Mo growing efforts of the last month helped them raise over $100,000 for the Movember Foundation and men’s health.
With Movember now over, staff from G.J Gardner Homes will finish 2016 clean shaven but with the knowledge that they have significantly contributed to research and men’s health services within Australia and around the world.
Darren Wallis, G.J. Gardner Homes CEO, said he is extremely proud of each franchise’s enthusiasm and overwhelmed by the generosity of their local communities.
“Our staff came together to raise important funds and so did their families, friends and the local communities where we are based.
“We feel privileged to be a part of these communities.” Mr Wallis said.
Having a predominately male staff, G. J. Gardner Homes feel deeply connected to the Movember cause.
In addition to growing some pretty serious Mos, G.J. Gardner Homes staff also participated in education to look after their own health and that of their family and friends.
Mr Wallis said G.J. Gardner’s staff received education on testicular cancer, prostate cancer and men’s mental health issues - how to understand the early warning signs and how to seek any necessary help.
“Unfortunately these health issues aren’t uncommon, so it’s important to provide our staff with the information they need to reduce their risk but also so they can look out for their mates.
“The Movember Foundation’s mission is year-round, and we’re supporting it by implementing on-going health education programs and commencing regular exercise regimes creating an informed Mo-friendly workplace in each franchise.
“We’re very committed of our staff and to making their lives as happy and healthy as possible.
“We can’t wait to come back bigger and hairier for Movember 2017,” Mr Wallis said.
