GOOD things come in threes – just ask the team at G.J. Gardner Homes. Chosen from more than 1800 individual entries, G.J. Gardner Homes took out not
one but three categories at the 2010 Australian Business Awards.

The Australian Business Awards honour organisations that demonstrate the core values of business excellence, product excellence, sustainability and commercial success in their respective industries. G.J. Gardner was recognised in the Innovation, Enterprise and Service Excellence categories.
This is a massive achievement for the multinational company, which started as a single, family-run office in Queensland 27 years ago. G.J. Gardner Homes CEO Darren Wallis says the outcome simply reinforces the company’s position as an industry leader. ‘‘We are ecstatic to be recognised on a national level at the awards,’’ Mr Wallis said. ‘‘Three awards is such an amazing result. What a remarkable way for our team to be recognised among the best in the business.’’

Program director of the Australian Business Awards, Tara Johnston, said the standard of entries for 2010 underpinned the strength of the Australian economy. ‘‘In addition to highlighting the outstanding achievements of the winning organisations in the private and public sector, we are pleased that these awards continue to promote key values in the workplace,’’ she said.

With a number of local sites, including the Queensland head office on the Sunshine Coast, G.J. Gardner Homes continues to grow from strength to strength. ‘‘Our products and services are now being welcomed by thousands of Australians, as well as other countries worldwide,’’ Mr Wallis said. ‘‘We successfully expanded to  New Zealand and have been the largest residential builder there for several years now. We also expanded to the United States and have four offices in Colorado and 10 offices in California. We will be opening in Texas and a couple of other states shortly.’’ Mr Wallis puts their secret to success down to ‘‘honesty, simplicity and treating customers like real people’’. The company has nominations in the upcoming Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards (October) and Sunshine Coast Excellence in Business Awards (November).
